In Los Angeles, one thing you’ll find is that there’s no shortage of weekend escapes. The city looms so large that living on the East end can warrant a holiday on the West. There lies the cultural perk of California, are the range of ecologies you encounter in a short drive.

But if intercity commuting is not your style of a staycation, there are plenty of road-trip destinations to choose from: whether you’re sun-seeking out in the desert or craving a cool breeze on Pacific Coast Highway, we’ve mapped out four of the best boutique hotels who’ve mastered the art of the weekend getaway.
